Reliable Rewiring, Replacements, and Inspection
The saying ‘you never know what you’ve got until it’s gone’ is true for the electricity in your home that you rely on everyday. As much as we appreciate it, we can’t take it for granted as convenience of modern life. It isn’t until a power outage or electrical malfunction that we realize how much we depend on our electrical system for A/C, heating, electric appliances, and keeping our mobile devices charged! In order to ensure a safe, efficient electrical system that won’t leave you in the dark or cause problems, it’s best practice to have it inspected every few years or before installing new appliances. If you’re experiencing frequent outages and power surges, flickering lights, or switches and outlets that don’t work, call on the name that Pearland homeowners have trusted for more than 50 years: John Moore.
If you’re currently dealing with an electrical emergency like sparking wires or an electrical fire, please contact your electricity company and have them shut off power to your home, and contact the Pearland fire department via 9-1-1 dispatch before contacting John Moore.

Breaker Panel Experts of Pearland
Your home’s breaker panel (also referred to as a distribution panel or electrical panel) divides and distributes electricity to all of the outlets, lights, and appliances in your home as you use them. We recommend having your electrical panel inspected before moving into a home and before making any major renovations, especially if they involve installing new light fixtures, outlets, or large appliances. Depending on your home’s design, your distribution panel may be located in your attic, garage, a closet- and in some cases. may even be on an exterior wall of your home. It’s recommended that homeowners have their breaker panel inspected every few years to ensure that there are no short fuses or damage from pests that could lead to an outage, malfunction, or even an electrical fire.
If you live in an older Pearland home built before 1970 with the original electrical system in place, you should make sure that your home doesn’t have an outdated or recalled panel. Older electrical panels don’t always have the safety feature that turns off power in the case of a surge, which could lead to sparks or fires from the high levels of electricity being permitted through your home’s electrical system. Finally, if you notice breakers on your panel won’t reset; circuits that short or trip more often than normal; or outlets, lights, and appliances that don’t work, then you may have a fault in your electrical panel. Whatever the case, John Moore’s licensed and insured electricians are ready to inspect and solve any and all of your breaker panel issues so that you can enjoy your home’s electricity worry free.
If you have concerns with your home's electrical system, call 713-730-2525 to schedule a breaker panel inspection.
Rewiring services in Pearland, Texas
Your home’s electrical wiring system supplies electricity to your lights, appliances, and outlets. If your home is relatively new, the electrical wiring used in its construction is most likely made of copper and insulated with a durable PVC plastic that prevents wires from coming into contact with other wires, conductive materials, or flammable building materials behind your wall. The use of this safer PVC does not, however, mean that your wiring is safe from tampering by pests or rodents, which could lead to exposed wires or wires that have been completely chewed through. If you notice flickering lights or light switches that dont work, you may have faulty wires. If we do find evidence that mice, rats or some other pest has chewed through your electrical wire insulation, we will refer our pest control specialists to take care of them so that the same problem does not persist.
If your home was built before the 90s, your electrical wires may have an outdated type of plastic insulation that is prone to disintegrating, especially in the flux of Houston’s mild winters and hot summers. Additionally, it’s likely that your wires would be made of aluminum with a rubber protective coating. These older wiring systems are known to overheat, especially when used to power or charge modern electronics and appliances. If you live in an older home, we suggest you have your wiring system inspected and upgraded by a licensed electrician to prevent electrical fires in your home. If you smell smoke from behind your walls, or have two-prong, ungrounded outlets in your home, you should have your wiring and electrical system upgraded to a newer, safer, more efficient system as soon as possible.
Do you suspect that you have an outdated wiring system in your home? Call 713-730-2525 to schedule a consultation with John Moore's next available electrician.
